United or Divided?

The girls and I had some fun trying to figure out how to arrange the furniture, a favorite past time of mine.  We have one sofa in our family room with 2 ottomans.  We found this piece at a consignment shop.  Did I mention that we have no furniture other than a dining room table, piano and chest that are currently in storage in Pittsburgh as well as 3 bookcases, an entertainment center and entry cabinet in our shipment?  So that has meant some furniture shopping. We fell in love with this sofa.

Take one:  Sofa up against the window on the right so you can walk past on the left.

Laura didn’t like some of the options I suggested for arranging furniture however they did decide that it was super comfy and our whole family could fit on the sofa for scripture reading.

This is another variation on Take one with the ottoman’s split and stored on either side of the fireplace.  This works when we need more space on the floor.  It is still weird having a sofa just beside the kitchen rather than in the living room.  It has been chilly enough that we’ve used the fireplace to heat up the space.  The living room has a vaulted ceiling that adjoins the loft and so it doesn’t heat very well without the fireplace.  It doesn’t take too long for the fireplace to work its magic.

Take 2:  Sofa’s split with ottomans in the middle.

The winning vote was for Take one.  I put moving glides under the ottomans so they can easily be moved as needed and it works.  Brian was pleased with the purchase, especially the price.

Did I mention that the ottomans have storage in them?  It is quite useful.  So what is your pick, United or Divided?
