Last night we had the most amazing wind storm that I’ve ever experienced in my life. The windows rattled all night long so hard that I thought they were going to blow in. My parents are flying in today from eastern Pennsylvania. I woke several times in the night to pray for them to have a safe and easy flight.
Bekah went to seminary and the kids confirmed that they have wind storms but that it was pretty unusual. Brian reported trees and fence posts down all over the place. Days later we saw evidence that shingles from homes had blown off and some in larger sections. I didn’t really understand why our house had concrete shingles, I do now and I’m glad for it.
My parents flights were good up until the leg from Phoenix to Reno. The last 30 minutes they said was a ride as the wind was blowing them in. Now that they are familiar with the route they said shorter layovers would be fine.
Within 12 hours of arriving my dad was in trouble. He jumped over the back of the sofa which Samuel being the observant student obliged in copying so you know what had to happen, in the corner. He promised not to jump over the sofa again. I didn’t know that he went into the corner until Samuel told me and we started laughing so hard. Not sure who was laughing harder us or him.
It is so nice that they could come to spend time with us and in particular to be here for Samuel’s baptism. He’s been looking forward to this special day since before he was old enough to understand what it meant. It touched my heart that he was so looking forward to receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost.
